Vikings in Minnesota

Submitted by on October 6, 2009 – 3:00 pmNo Comment

Minnesota is certainly known for being the home of Vikings, well mostly Vikings associated with the NFL.  But, did you know that you can get your fill of Scandinavian heritage and become familiar with the ship building skills of the Vikings  right here in Fargo Moorhead?  You sure can.  Recently I visited the Historical & Cultural Society of Clay County in Moorhead, MN.  It is the home of the Hjemkomst Viking ship, a replica stave church (with some of the most impressive wood carving I have ever seen) and numerous displays featuring remnants from our prairie past.  Take a look at what I saw on my visit.  I can assure you that you will see much more and be blown away by quality of the exhibits.  You may even leave there with a need to make one of your dreams a reality.  Learn more at the Fargo Moorhead Convention & Visitors Bureau website here. More information on the Historical & Cultural Society of Clay County is available  here.

Be sure to check out the assortment of images from this visit now available on Flickr too!
