Time to rid the Fargo Moorhead streets of clunkers
If you’re driving a clunker around the Fargo Moorhead area, and have thought about upgrading to a new car, now is the best time to do so! Cash for Clunkers, a new federal program, went in to effect this month and could save you between $3500-$4500 off the price of a new car.
Unlike so many other “specials” or “great deals”, this one is unique in that you don’t have to fill in a rebate form or wait for the check to come in the mail. If you meet the requirements, dealers will deduct the approved amount right off the amount due for your new, purchased vehicle. Dealers must provide consumers with any other advertised rebates or discounts in addition to the credit they receive through the CARS program. This deal will only be around until November 1st so long as funds appropriated by Congress, are not exhausted before this date.
There are certain stipulations that need to be met so take a look and see if you could be driving around in a new car in the coming weeks.
- Your vehicle must be less than 25 years old on the trade-in date
- Only purchase or lease of new vehicles qualify
- Generally, trade-in vehicles must get 18 or less MPG (some very large pick-up trucks and cargo vans have different requirements, 15mpg)
- Trade-in vehicles must be registered and insured in your name continuously for the full year preceding the trade-in
- You don’t need a voucher, dealers will apply a credit at purchase
