Streets Alive in the Fargo Moorhead Area

Streets AliveIf you’re looking for something to do this summer that’s fun AND inspires physical activity, then Streets Alive is for you!  This brand new event happens at the end of this summer so be sure to mark your calendars now so you don’t forget!  Turn off your engines and turn on your hearts.  Fargo Moorhead will close 5 miles of streets to motorized traffic and open them up for you to walk, bike, run, baby stroll or rollerblade.  You will be able to experience dance and fitness activities, music, juggling, art entertainment, healthy foods, health exhibits and more, in the parks along the way.  Designated streets will be open and “Alive” to those who want to take part in this family-friendly event.

For the first time ever, a 5-mile stretch of key Fargo Moorhead streets, including Broadway and Center Avenue, will be closed to motorized vehicles.  Walkers, bikers, runners, rollerbladers — any human-powered transportation– will fill the streets.  This 5-mile loop will connect downtown Fargo Moorhead, including Island Park, Woodlawn Park and Oak Grove Park.

The hope is that this event will bring the FM community together for a fun, interactive physical activity festival, while allowing walker, bikers, runners, etc. to enjoy the FM streets in a whole new way.  Attendees will be able to experience the city from a new perspective and pace and at the same time, they’ll be encouraged to add non-motorized travel in to their daily lives.

Mark your calendars today and join the community on Sunday, August 29th and Sunday, September 19th, from noon to 5p each day!
