Get ready for a week of fun-filled events at the Dilworth Loco Daze. The events run July 28 – Aug 3, 2009. I have attended a variety of events throughout the past few years and it is always a great time. There is something to do for everyone of all ages.

Monday – Saturday, July 28 – August 2

A “Question Quiz” runs through Loco Daze. Each day, questions will be posted at City Hall for two age groups. Participants 12 and under who answer all questions correctly will be eligible to win one of two $50.00 gift certificates. Participants 13 – 16 years of age who answer all questions correctly will also have a chance for a $50 gift card.

Wednesday, July 30

The fifth Annual Loco Daze Golf Scramble, Ponderosa Golf Course, Glyndon. Must be 21 to participate.

Thursday, July 31st

6:30 PM – Three on Three Basketball Tournament (Dilworth Jr High Gym) Grades 4 – 9

7:00 PM – Dilworth Lions verses Dilworth Fire Department “Challenge Cup” Volleyball Game at Constitution Park.

9:00 PM – 1:00 AM Karaoke for adults at JC’s Corral

Friday, August 1

1:00 PM – 4:00 PM United Blood Service, Blood Drive, First National Bank Parking Lot, Pre-Registration preferred at City Hall, but walk-ins are welcome.

2:00 PM – 5:00 PM KFGO’s Joel Heitkamp Show, broadcasting live from First National Bank. Sponsored by First National Bank.

1:00 PM – 3:00 PM Free Open Swim, Dilworth swimming pool.

3:00 PM – 5:00 PM Youth Pool Party. Free admission to the Dilworth swimming pool. Sponsored by Northwestern Bank.

6:30 PM Betty Zimmel Memorial Youth Parade. Assemble at St. Elizabeth’s parking lot. Parade route is South on Main Street to 1st Ave NW to the Community Center. Prizes for top 3 parade entries and ping pong ball scramble for ages 12 and under, immediately following the Youth Parade. Sponsored by the Dilworth Lions.

6:30 PM – 10:00 PM Games Galore inflatable games for all ages across from the Community Center. Concessions available by Dilworth Presbyterian Church.

7:00 PM – 8:00 PM Dilworth Police Department FREE bike registration program. Save $5.00 by registering your bike during Loco Daze. Bring your bike down to the Community Center and register it. Protect your bike by registering it with the Police Department.

7:00 PM – 11:00 PM Free video game arcade at the Community Center sponsored by Northwestern Bank.

7:15 PM Pedal Tractor Pull, kids 12 and under at the Community Center. Sponsored by RDO and Northwestern Bank. Pre-registration for the event will be at the Youth Parade line-up and continue at the Community Center prior to the beginning of the event.

8:00 PM Pinochle Tournament at Community Center with pre-registration at City Hall (287-2311) preferred. $5.00 per person paid at time of event. Participants may also register at time of tournament.

8:30 PM – 11:30 PM Youth Dance at the Community Center under the Loco Daze big top tent with music provided by Parties to Go. City curfew extended to midnight.

9:00 PM – 1:00 AM Downtown Jamboree for adults. Support your downtown! Check with individual businesses for specials and activities

Saturday, August 2

10:30 AM Loco Daze Parade

10:30 AM During the parade, Northwestern Bank will provide FREE cookies and refreshments. Free Barrel Train rides from 9:00 AM – 11 AM at Northwestern Bank.

12:00 PM – 5:00 PM Games Galore inflatable games for all ages across from the Community Center.

12:00 PM – 2:00 PM Lunch at the Community Center. Sponsored by Dilworth Lutheran and Presbyterian Churches.

12:00 PM – 5:00 PM Concessions by the Loco Lady Lions at the Community Center.

12:00 PM – 3:00 PM People Mover Rides at the Community Center.

12:00 PM – 12:30 AM Dilworth Lions Beer Garden at the Community Center.

12:30 PM Penny and Pal’s Children’s show at the Loco Daze big top tent. Sponsored by Northwestern Bank, Rick Halvorson Woodbridge Addition, and Opatril Concrete.

1:00 PM Bed Races, 5 person teams. Registration will be at City Hall from Monday, July 28th through Friday August 1st at 4 PM. There must be at least 4 teams registered to hold this event.

1:00 PM – 4:00 PM Red River Valley Zoo, traveling zoo.
1:30 PM Family Games, Slow bike race, egg toss and other family games.

1:30 PM – 3:00 PM Musical Entertainment tribute band Hickory Wind under the Loco Daze big top tent at the Community Center. Sponsored by Red River Electric Co-op, 702 Communications, D & R Motors, and Serenity Assisted Living.

1:30 PM Free Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament at JC’s Corral Bar. MN Poker League Rules with $200.00 prize fund.

3:00 PM – 5:30 PM Karaoke Contest sponsored by Rock 102 and Xcel Energy under the Loco Daze big top tent at the Community Center.

3:00 PM – 5:00 PM Jackpot Bingo at the Community Center, 20 games with the last game a $100.00 blackout game.

5:30 PM – 7:30 PM Italian Dinner at the Community Center. Prepared and served by the Dilworth Lions and Dilworth Volunteer Fire Department. Adults $6.00; Children under 12 years old $3.00; Children under 5 FREE.

6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Fargo/Moorhead “Little Red River Band” Dixieland Jazz band under the Loco Daze big top tent at the Community Center. Sponsored by Cash Wise Foods.

9:00 PM – 1:00 AM Adult Dance at the Community Center. Entertainment provided by “THE ROOSTERS”. Cover charge at the door/gate. Sponsored in part by “Bob 95.1?. BAR PROVIDED- NO BYOB. ADULTS ONLY. MUST BE 21 TO ENTER. SORRY ON MINORS ALLOWED! Concessions provided by Dilworth Presbyterian Church.

Sunday, August 3

11:00 AM – 2:00 PM Open House at Serenity Assisted Living, 1125 Oakview Drive, Dilworth. Free lunch to the first 300 people. Entertainment, social and more!

1:00 PM Tennis Tournament at the Tennis Court north of JR High School. Register on site.

1:00 PM – 3:00 PM Water Olympics at the swimming pool for grades 2-6 (2007 – 2008 school year).

7:00 PM “Sundaes on Sunday” FREE Ice Cream Sundaes at the picnic shelter at Whistle Stop Park. Sponsored by Dilworth Lutheran Church.

7:30 PM Community Worship Service at the picnic shelter at Whistle Stop Park. Everyone is welcome to attend.
