Halloween Treats for Boys and Ghouls of All Ages
Halloween is just around the corner so I am including my favorite treats without tricks for you to make with your kids. Looking for some quick Halloween Recipe Ideas? Cut orange JELL-O Jigglers with a pumpkin cookie cutter and lime Jigglers with a bat or witch. You can also use your cookie cutters to turn ordinary sandwiches into fun Halloween shapes. Simply mix cooled popcorn, chocolate chips and gummy worms in a bowl to make “Bugs in a Bowl.” Another easy recipe is for Halloween Spider Cookies. All you need is Oreo Cookies, frosting mix, red licorice ropes, and chocolate chips or red hots. Split the cookies and put three lengths of red licorice across the frosting, letting about two inches hang out both sides for legs. Add a little canned frosting and put the cookies back together. Put two small dollops of frosting on edge of cookies and add two chips or red hots for eyes.
If you are looking for an easy way to spook up your drink, try the Halloween Ghoul Punch. Take a surgical or rubber glove and fill it with juice or colored water. Tie the glove shut and freeze. Place the frozen glove into the punch bowl at serving time. The kids will scream when they see a hand floating in the punch. An easy recipe for Witch’s Brew is to mix 3 pints purple grape juice with 1 ½ pints club soda. Cut an apple into small chunks and add it to the punch. Add some grapes and you will have floating eyes and teeth in your punch. Another way to turn ordinary juice into witch’s brew is to add Dry Ice. Using tongs, place the ice in an empty margarine container. Punch holes in the lid, add a little water, and close. Never touch the dry ice! Always place it in a separate container.
