Fireworks Safety in the Fargo Moorhead Area
Fireworks on the Fourth of July are awesome. They are loud, beautiful, stunning, amazing, exciting, and much more. Fireworks have been a part of many celebrations for as long as most of us can remember, but it is also important to remember — fireworks can be dangerous and even deadly if used improperly. Here are some general safety guidelines to follow when using fireworks.
1. Always use fireworks under adult supervision
2. Fireworks and alcohol do not mix.
3. Only use fireworks as intended. Don’t try to alter them or combine them to create larger fireworks.
4. Read and follow all instructions that come with the fireworks.
5. Always keep water and sand nearby to put out any fires that may occur.
6. Do not ever light indoors, use only outdoors in a clear area.
7. Never try to make your own fireworks, this can be deadly.
8. Never relight fireworks that appear to have gone out… they could still be burning.
9. Only light fireworks one at a time.
10. Never allow small children to go near or hold fireworks.
11. Store in a cool dry place prior to setting off.
12. Never lean over the top of fireworks to light them, they can go off and hit you.
13. Tie hair back from your face, wear safety goggles and no loose fitting clothes that fireworks can get tied up in or you can trip over.
14. Sparklers should be immersed in sand once they appear out – they are still very hot and can burn.
15. Some pets can be frightened by loud noises and bright flashes. Keep your pets indoors while enjoying your fireworks.
When all else fails, use common sense. We all shoot off fireworks to have a good time and there is no sense in ruining that by being irresponsible.
