Fargo Oktoberfest 2009- Saturday, October 10 – Events for Everyone in the Family
Looking for something to do this weekend? The Fargo Oktoberfest is the place to be, and you don’t have to be German to enjoy the events. The first annual Fargo Oktoberfest will be held this Saturday in the parking lot behind The Old Broadway (except for the running and pub crawl). The event begins with the running of a half marathon, 10K, and 5K run/walk – a distance for everyone. What a great way to view the fall colors, before the snow comes. The running events start and end at the Fargo Civic Center. Sign up now, as space is limited.
10:00 a.m. Food and Games Galore open – German Cuisine plus great Food Vendors
Half Marathon Awards Presentation – 10:00 5K, 11:00 10K, 12:00 noon Half Marathon
12:30 p.m. Live Entertainment 12:30 – 3:30 Odell Braaten, 4:00 – 7:00 Carmen the Cactus, 7:00 – 11:00 Boomtown
1:00 Running of the Wieners – you must sign up for this event. You must also clean up after your dog. There will be numerous heats to ensure multiple races. You must have two dog handlers (start and finish) and costumes are encouraged! To register, e-mail oktoberfestfargo@123fargo.com. In the subject line, type in “Running of the Wieners” and note how many dogs you will be bringing.
Oktoberfest Pub Crawl – Take a tour of downtown’s hot spots by stopping at each of the Oktoberfest official sponsors. The first 200 people to finish the pub crawl will receive a finisher medal. You DO NOT have to consume alcoholic beverages to participate in the Pub Crawl, but you must be 21 years of age or older. Official Pub Crawl Participants include: SideStreet Grille and Pub, Monte’s Downtown, Fargo VFW, Rooters Bar, Old Broadway, Dempsey’s Public House, and Sports Bar.
Rootbeer Fest for Kids sponsored by the American Bottling Company, first 300 kids receive free rootbeer floats.
