Fargo Moorhead Steps Back in Time at Bonanzaville Pioneer Days!
You have a chance to take a step back in time and enjoy yourself at the Pioneer Days at Bonanzaville this weekend! Saturday 8/21 from 10-5p and Sunday 8/22 from noon-6p, you’ll be able to partake in numerous activities. If you’ve never been to Bonanzaville, this is the perfect time to do it.
Bonanzaville is located at 1351 Main Avenue in West Fargo and this is the 41st Annual Pioneer Days. As you near the place, you’ll recognize it for all of the old buildings that populate the grounds. Getting out of your car, and entering the first building, you’ll feel like you’ve taken a step back in time. This is such a fun place to take your kids too because there are so many things that will look familiar to you that your kids will never have seen before. Even the “phone company”, with all of the old styles of phones is a good conversation piece. Don’t be surprised if you have to explain what the corded phones were all about. Kids are so used to cordless phones, or cell phones, that many are unfamiliar with phones that were popular just 10 years ago.
Some of the scheduled activities this weekend include: a pioneer costume contest at 1:30p each day at Arthur Town Hall; Pioneer Parade each day at 2p; live demostrations of threshing, spinning, paper cutting, basket weaving and best of all, lefse making….yummy! You won’t want to miss Laughing with Lena either, taking place in Dawson Hall!
There will be musical entertainment, costumed interpreters and children’s games. When you work up an appetite walking the grounds, you’ll be able to try lefse, rommegrot, root beer floats, ice cream, popcorn, hot dogs, chips, cookies and lemonade.
There will also be a Sunday morning German church service at 11a at St. John Church.
Kids 5 and under are free; 6-16 is $5 and adults will be charged $10. You can also purchase a weekend pass for $8 for the kids and $15 for adults. More information can be found here.
