Fargo-Moorhead Area Dog Parks

Submitted by on May 24, 2009 – 2:46 pm2 Comments

dogYunker Farm Dog Park is Fargo’s newest Dog Park.  The park offers fenced in areas for small and large dogs to socialize and exercise.  The Dog Park is open daily from dawn to dusk year-round, weather and turf conditions permitting.  It is located north of the Children’s Museum at Yunker Farm on 28th Ave. N. & 12th St. in Fargo.  Your pet can roam and run in an enclosed area.  This allows your pet to socialize with other pets.  There are fenced areas for both small and large dogs.  Strict rules and regulations will be enforced to provide a safe environment for all to enjoy.

Village West Dog Park is a very similar place.  It is located at 45th St. and 9th Ave. S., Fargo.  Both places have seating for dog owners, water fountains for the pets and a dog shelter.

Centennial Dog Park is Moorhead’s Dog Park located at 2210 15th Ave. N.  It is an 150 x 290 foot area that is divided into 4 sections, 2 for large dogs (greater than 17 inches at shoulder) and 2 for small dogs.  There is no charge for using the park.  It will be open daily from dawn to dusk, weather and turf conditions permitting.  The new park gives dogs a place to socialize and run off-leash.

I am not sure how this whole concept came up but it was obviously by a dog owner/lover.  Not too long ago I didn’t even know that we had this available in the Fargo-Moorhead area.  At first I didn’t think it was that big of a deal because I’ve always exercised my dog.  Once I started reading about it I realized just how great of an idea it was.  I really do like the socializing part of it (for the dogs and the owners) because otherwise my dog doesn’t get to see a lot of other dogs and then when she does she goes a little nutty.

Check it out and let your dog enjoy a day at the Dog Park!
