Fargo Favorites
New to the Fargo/Moorhead area? Or maybe just need a change? Just thought I’d share a few of my favorite hot spots that I constantly crave.
I am what you would call a health nut. I love my tea, vegetables, fruit, glass of wine, and practically anything organic. I do, although, enjoy myself a nice burger with major flavor from time to time. This is practically ruining my diet it’s so good. It’s JL Beers in downtown Fargo. I’m not exactly sure how this concoction tastes so good, but I ordered the “Classic Burger” with lettuce, tomatoes, the JL special sauce and added grilled onions. Do yourself a favor and order the chips, not the french fries! They slice a fresh potato in seconds and fry up the chips themselves. Like spicy? Get the Cajun chips! You can’t get any more fresh than that! But most of all, if you’re a beer connoisseur, JL Beers has at least 20 beers on tap, plus more in bottles! The only downfall, their bar is on the smaller side. Dinner time is definitely not the best time to go. As their slogan goes, ”serving 1000′s, just 24 at a time!” Totally worth the wait if you ask me!
I’m very fortunate to work in a clinic where we have your average 8am-5pm hours. Just a holler to all the nurses and people who work night shifts! Fargo Coffee Co. on south University and 16th is open 24 hours and has a drive through! It may not be your average Starbucks, but Fargo Coffee has all your coffee and tea preferences at an awesome price. I walked in for the first time a few weeks ago and felt like I was in an episode of “Friends” as I noticed a big comfy sofa in the corner with an episode of “Seinfeld” on the tv in front of it. Not to mention, the gentleman preparing my coffee talked to me like I was practically his best friend asking how my day was going and making sure my coffee was exactly the way I wanted it.
My friends and I are constantly looking for cute little places to meet for lunch. Yet another one of my favorites is also in downtown Broadway. Vintner’s Cellar has unique sandwiches, soup of the day, and desserts for the lunch-goers. The winery is very low key and relaxing and occasionally has a jazzy band there to serenade you. All of their wine is local, and delicious might I add. Through the back of the restaurant is a gift shop that sells bottles of all their wine along with hilarious T-shirts and classy wine accessories. My favorite part of Vitner’s Cellar is the fact that you can make your own wine (great idea for a date) and personalize your own design on the bottle (great for gift giving)!
Eat, drink, and be merry!
