Energize your GREEN LEAF by getting rid of junk mail!
Starting off my GREEN LEAF blog, is some information I found in the Fargo Forum a couple of weeks ago. This article contained some great information, for those of you who are so tired of all of the junk mail, that you receive every day of the week! You’ll find some very easy steps, that we can all make, to decrease the amount of junk we receive in our mailboxes!
Did you know that getting rid of junk mail, would have the same effect as taking millions of cars off the roads? And that junk mail makes up more of the waste stream than disposable diapers. Surprising, isn’t it?! Keep reading and find some links that you can follow, to start decreasing the amount of junk mail you receive!
www.dmachoice.org Consumers can remove their names from mailing lists for unwanted advertising, donation requests, catalogs and other offers.
www.catalogchoice.org Customers can unsubscribe from specific catalogs.
www.optoutprescreen.com or 888-567-8688 Consumers can opt out of credit card solicitations for either five years or permanently. Experts say this not only is a smart green move, but also might help prevent identity theft.
Some groups, including ForestEthics http://www.donotmail.org/ are working to make junk mail illegal. They’ve gathered more than a million signatures on a petition, but so far haven’t made progress in Congress. They’re opposed by the direct mail and catalog companies that say they need mail marketing and sales to keep the economy humming. Opponents to direct mail restrictions say the industry creates 3.5 million US jobs. I say, too bad. What do you say?

I’m so tired of junk mail! I’m with ya! Very good website info.
Thanks, Karly! I hope you find that these links reduce the amount of junk that arrives in your mailbox! It’s such a waste of money, energy, time and sanity.
Thanks for the great information! I always wonder what kind of impact all of the junkmail I recieve has on the planet. I must throw away a ream of paper every month! At least I recycle it – so that helps, but still – think of all the energy it takes just to produce all of the stuff in the first place. Talk about a waste of natural resources!
