Donate to ReStore and Pay It Forward

Submitted by on April 25, 2010 – 8:54 pm2 Comments

habitat for humanityAs Earth week finishes up, I wanted to be sure that all of you knew about the ReStore store in Moorhead.  The Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanity Restore was opened a little over 3 years ago, as a a way to provide a way for people and businesses to donate new or slightly used surplus building materials.  These items are then sold to the general public at about 50-75% off of full retail!  Proceeds from the ReStore support Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanity’s mission of building homes for low income families, here in the Cass and Clay counties.

ReStore accepts appliances, bath fixtures, cabinets, doors, electrical supplies, flooring (new only), furniture, hardware, light fixtures, new paint, plumbing supplies, sinks, tools, trim and windows.  It is located at 210 11th St. N. Moorhead and the store hours are Monday through Friday, 10a-6p and Saturday, from 10a-2p.

With “clean up week” coming soon, please keep this in mind.  Instead of tossing your “junk” out to the curb, decide if there’s something in there that could instead be dropped off at the ReStore.  This is a great way to “pay it forward” because your donation will help the store keep a good variety of items, save the buyer money, help to build homes, and you may be able to use it as a tax deduction.

This is something you can use all year-round and like the article said it is tax deductible. Pass information around to others who may be interested.

Good point, Carrie! Definitely something that I hope people will keep in mind all year long. Sometimes at the end of the summer, people decide to get rid of some of their summer furniture or things like that so I sure hope people keep ReStore in mind!
