Cell Phone Weather Alerts in the Fargo Moorhead Area
Did you know that you can have weather alerts sent to your cell phone, that will alert you to bad weather in the Fargo Moorhead and surrounding areas? With all of the bad weather that our region has had in the past month, this is something that you may want to look in to.
There was a lot of discussion, after the storms at the end of July, as to if all of the weather sirens sounded throughout the Fargo Moorhead area or not. There were several people who said that they never heard the sirens. Because it was so early in the morning, around 1:30a, it was one of those times that the sirens were key in alerting residents to the impending storms! Testing of the sirens the following week, proved that some of the sirens were not working. Just like everything else, things can work one day and not the next and that’s why the testing that is done the first Wednesday of every month at 1p is so important.
Now there is an additional way for you to hear of bad weather that may be heading your way. You can register your cell phone number here , allowing you to receive weather alerts, via a text message. This includes tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings, as well as blizzard and winter storm warnings. If you do not have unlimited texting on your cell phone, you will be charged for this text, as you are for any other text message you receive.
Take the time now to register your cell phone so that you can be sure that you are aware of any weather alerts for your area. This is such a simple thing to do and will give you a little peace of mind!
