Bottled Water: Better Than Filtered Tap Water?

I hadn’t thought much about the subject of bottled water until the other day when I paid $3.50 for a small bottle of water at the movie theater. I probably would have had to take out a loan for the large bottle!
If people want to buy bottled water, that’s their business. I just wondered about the facts when it comes to bottled water vs filtered tap water. I started reading some articles on this and have not seen anywhere yet where it says bottled water is any better or different than what we get with filtered tap water.
Does anyone out there have any real insight to what the bottled water is all about? Is it basically for the rich? – and I don’t mean that in a bad way – but rich I am not.
There is an article that I found today that was interesting about 5 reasons not to drink bottled water.
The article also gave an alternative to bottled water, which was a stainless steel thermos and using an inexpensive carbon filter for tap water to fill it with.
Again, I’m not saying buy it or don’t buy it – I just don’t get it. What I do know is that I get my water out of the fridge that filters the water and it tastes great compared to my regular tap water.
Can anyone share anything good or bad about the bottled water subject?

I guess I buy it purely for convenience. I don’t want to fill bottles with filtered water from the fridge.
Convenience here too but I will admit that when something has to be cut back on when I am low on money – that is one of the things put on hold.
Bottled water is the best marketing ploy and load of **** that we all ever fell for! Goes to show how gullible and lazy we all are. First off some plastic bottles leach harmful chemicals into our systems, 2nd most water you are buying IS tap water! 3rd the bottles that we throw away are destroying marine life and are filling our landfills, 4th Tap water is actually better for you and add needed minerals into your system, 5th less than one full-time employee at the FDA is responsible for checking to see if bottled water is safe! 6th as the beverage industries saw their sales start to level off with the colas that we drink they were smart enough to see that we as consumers are stupid enough to fall for their marketing and would actually buy water at 1000 times the cost!!!
Would you buy a loaf of bread for $2,500? Then why are we buying water at that kind of a mark up? If you hear anything good about bottled water it is because of the powerful and big money marketing of Coke and Pepsi that keep you thinking this way and buying the water from them. Stupid and lazy consumers fall for anything!

Don’t get me started, as some will get offended by this rant I hope everyone has the motivation to stop this farce.
I hope to hear just one good comment about bottled water and I’ll come back with 3 more against it.
